Such a great post!

As an aside, your hatred of Monopoly is the desired and designed outcome of the game mechanics. It was developed by a woman who was a follower of Henry George to show why modern property mechanisms always lead to concentration of wealth.

It was never meant to be a fun family game, it was a simulation/lesson in Georgist economics.

Thanks for your comment. As it happens, I felt the article was getting too long and so I removed a passage where I talked about the landlord’s game. I appreciate your note.

Insightful thinking about what playing board games teaches us about life skills, applied game theory, and just being a successful occupant of the planet. Looking forward to the book!

Thank you, Mark. That means a lot coming from one of my favorite (and one of the best) game writers.

We can talk about your books.

What kind of telecommunication do you find useful?

We can have e.g. a public talk.

I like it that you appreciate improvements, e.g. to board games.

It's useful to be aware of what one feels about certain games and what behaviours are related to certain games.

What motivates you to link to a bookshop?

If people buy the book after reading this article, I’d like to encourage them to support an independent bookstore rather than buying it on a giant corporate website. Vroman’s is the oldest bookstore in the western US and an institution in Pasadena, CA.

We can talk about this. I'm interested in such views.
